Announcing Rio WONCA 2016 Bursaries

The Brazilian Society of Family and Community Medicine (SBMFC) as official organizer of the RIO WONCA 2016 conference will offer 30 bursaries to provide the opportunity for young family physicians/general practitioners from around the world to attend the event. These  bursaries will be available for family physicians/general practitioners from the countries listed at the end of this document.

Up to 30 nominees selected will have free registration and will receive the amount of R$ 500 (Brazilian currency – equivalent to USD 145) and  there is up to two awards per country available!
International scholars will be expected to submit a brief written report up to 300 words with a mini curriculum of one or two pages in word or pdf to: bursary@wonca2016.com 

Please email your nomination by August 15th 2016 (Submission deadline).

Successful applicants will be notified by September 15th 2016.

Goals of the Rio WONCA 2016 Bursaries
1. Advance family medicine worldwide.
2. Assist nations with need and potential for growth.
3. Support the development of outstanding future leaders internationally.

Requirements for Eligibility
1. Must have completed medical studies, during training or early practicing family medicine.
2. Must be fluent in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
3. Must have the support of the official body (Ministry of Health, Medical Chamber) or best from the country's family/general practice organization.
4. Must have potential of becoming future leader in family medicine.
5. Priority will be given to those applicants who prove accepted abstract to the Rio conference – but not necessary condition.

Criteria for Selection
1. Personal need for financial support.
2. Personal potential for contributing to the development of FM in his/her home country.
3. Strength of proposed activities during the Rio conference visit.
4. Strength of proposed activities upon returning to the home country.
5. Regional needs and potential for FM development.
